99% of pickleball is doubles, so singles rules feel like a mystery. Good news: almost everything is identical — only scoring and serving side actually change.
Server score, then receiver score. Example: "6-4" . There is no "1 or 2" because there is no partner.
Lose your serve → the ball goes straight to your opponent. No second server, because there is no partner.
Serve deep. Return deep. Move your opponent side-to-side and use the passing shot. Because there is no partner covering the middle, the doubles-style dink game at the kitchen line is much less effective — you cannot both approach the net and cover the pass.
Two players share one half of the court — either the two right service boxes (diagonal), the two left ones, or same-side (parallel). Great for drilling dinks, drops and third-shot patterns without an empty court to chase.
