A 4 team round robin runs 3 rounds with 2 matches per round and 6 matches in total — every team plays every other team exactly once. With an even number of teams nobody sits out, so all 2 matches run at once if you have the courts.
Round 1: Team 1 vs Team 4, Team 2 vs Team 3
Round 2: Team 1 vs Team 3, Team 4 vs Team 2
Round 3: Team 1 vs Team 2, Team 3 vs Team 4
The circle method pairs the 4 entrants across two rows, then holds one fixed and rotates the rest one position per round. After 3 rotations every pairing has happened once, which is why the total is 6 matches (4 × 3 ÷ 2).
At about 15 minutes per game to 11 points, 3 rounds take roughly 45 minutes, provided all 2 matches of a round run at once. With half the courts, double the estimate.
